The Legend Ends : A tribute to Christopher Nolan

The last movie of the Dark Knight series, the epic ending of the legend of the man- Bruce Wayne or ' The Dark Knight Rises' as usual didn't disappoint. A gripping thriller, as its predecessors, it was a perfect ending to the Dark Knight series (the best that could have been arranged without the genius of the "Joker" (Heath Ledger). 'Bane', although lacking the magnetism of Joker, did impress with his brute force and muscle power. Though I missed the acting skill of Mr. Ledger, it was Nolan who compensated for him with his thrilling story line, brilliant cinematography, stunts and special effects.

The 'Bat' howering over the 'tumbler' was captivating
The predominant focus of the Nolan series had shifted to the villian after the capitvating performance of Heath Ledger as Joker in the "Dark Knight". Bale as Mr. Wayne has given his best but has abstained from the limelight, keeping his role subtle. As the people say now, " The Batman Series is all about its villians." As soon as a sequel is announced people start speculation as to who the enigmatic villian would be... Would the Joker make a reapperance although someone else would be portrayed or would there be a newer villian? And if there would be a new villian would he be able to fit into Joker's shoes? Only Nolan had the answers. It was one of the major reasons why Nolan took up the responsibility to fill in Heath's shoes. He built a faster paced story line. The focus was on Bale's acting prowess rather than Hardy's. The Dark Night Rises became a tale of Batman.

The stroy revolves around Bale's redemption. A saga of an old vigilante, emotionally broke and physically weared, he tries to adapt to an era of peace. Rusty due to lack of action for almost a decade and the death of his near and dear ones driving him to gloom and despair Bale finds himself to be no match for a motivated and ferocious Bane.

Batman and Bane engaged in a fight
Bane- the man who broke Batman, was assigned a supporting role. He merely created an aura of invincibility around his brawn power and Nolan's story line. Hardy got his strength from his muscles rather than his meticulous acting and the character which Nolan made out Bane to be.

Christopher Nolan
As like the rest of the series Nolan has tried to keep everything realistic. There have been no fancy story lines, which seems to be out of children's books. The plot which involved taking an entire city as hostage, that too in a powerful country as the USA has been immaculately plotted. Nothing seems unachievable. Even though a figment of imagination it has been kept as realistic as to fir the imagination of even the grown-ups. The strory is inspiring as it was meant to be. Bale's portrayal is realistic and convincing. Selina Kyle is good. The Ras-al ghul storyline extension adds a mystery to the movie which is kept under wraps till the very end.

The special effects ( the football scene, the collapse of the bridges, the nuclear explosion etc.) , the tumbler and the 'Bat'(introduced in this movie) are the real show stealers in this part. All the combined effort made this movie worth a watch. And if you are a Nolan fan it gives you all the more reasons to watch this movie. And lastly it was the perfect end to the 'Legendary Batman Series' (the Nolan Series)
